The Marriott Surfers Paradise is a unique 5 star resort that offers every service, desire, or craving you could conjure during a holiday and delivers it on a silver platter. Nestled in a picturesque location on the Gold Coast between golden sand beaches and beautiful winding waterways; the hotel seems as if it is floating on paradise.
The resort provides another dimension to holidaying on the Gold Coast, being one of few ‘fully serviced’ hotels, the Marriott has very little competition in its league.
From the moment you step into the Marriott Surfers Paradise you will be mesmerized by the expansive, elegantly decorated lobby complete with ballroom inspired stair case, chandeliers, and interior decorating that would make the Queen feel inadequate.
Despite its’ entirely grandeur nature, don’t think for a second that the Marriott Surfers Paradise will make you feel uncomfortable. The friendly and professional, yet personable staff will make you feel right at home and take care of your every need.
The resort features an array of beautiful suites, 5 restaurants, a fully serviced hair and day spa including separate private massage rooms, a stunning lagoon with tropical fish and white sand beach and fresh water pool and spa both heated to a perfect 23 degrees year round, business ‘Elandra Retreat’ club with evening drinks and complimentary canapés, lounges and bars, fully serviced 24 hour gym with access to personal trainers, and a kids club. Essentially the resort is what dreams are made of.
Every suite of the Marriott boasts spectacular Gold Coast views of either the luscious hinterland or pristine coastline - its 360 degree unobstructed views are maintained via zoning restrictions surrounding the building guaranteeing views for years to come.
The centrepiece of the Marriott Surfers Paradise is the exclusive and lavish $8 million aquatic playground. Themed tropical gardens frame the cascading waterfall and beautiful salt water lagoon filled with an array of tropical fish. Daily feeding sessions run at 9.30am allowing guests to get up close and personal either on the walkway or in the pool with snorkels.
The white sand beach leading guests into the aqua blue water is lined with covered cabanas that can be rented for a half or full day use to give families, couples, or friends a comfortable and private place to retreat to during their day on the water. The basic package comes with two cocktails and a bottle of water; however you can also have seafood platters, champagne, and more delivered whenever you wish.
For those unimpressed by swimming with fish and sandy backsides there is a separate fresh water pool and spa sans fish and sand. The kids will absolutely love the rock caves that link the pool areas together, they are a fun and safe place for them to explore and lead up to the pool’s winding tunnel water slide! The lagoon is a great place for families with children learning to swim as it recreates a beach environment without the added dangers of tides and unknown weather patterns.
Even the sand is made of a special silicone base designed to stick together rather than to foreign objects like your feet!
Beside the fresh water pool, just over the bridge, is an exit that leads out onto one of the waterways that lines the resort. From here you can hire a boat and fishing rods and head out to do a spot of fishing. You don’t even need your boat license!
Centred in the aquatic playground is the Pool Bar offering light meals, drinks, and absolutely delicious cocktails and mocktails. If you’d like to add a little extra vrrrooom to your day in the water, hire one of the electrical water scooters to zip around the pool. Leaving the pool area there are both foot wells and showers to rinse off in before returning to the comfort and luxury of the Marriott suites.
The suites boast a contemporary design reflecting Queensland’s coastal charms and come in several variations from basic to presidential to cater for all requirements and budgets. No matter what your choice you will not be disappointed, every suite has its own private balcony, unobstructed panoramic views, a separate shower and bath (especially helpful for the mobility impaired), and room to store luggage and clothes so the floor space is clear from tripping hazards. The hotel also offers interconnected rooms to allow large families, families travelling together, or groups more comfort and ease of access to each other.
The resort boasts 5 restaurants including the Pool Bar, Citrique Seafood Buffet, Misono Japanese Steakhouse, Chapter & Verse Bar and Lounge, and the Elandra Retreat Club. Both the Pool Bar and Chapter & Verse offer light meals and are great when you are out and about on the water or to grab a coffee before heading off on a Surfers Paradise adventure.
For evening canapés, a glass of wine, and beautiful views (that can include surprise whale watching!) head up to the Elandra Retreat Club. Please note this option is for guests who are staying in executive suites. So it is worth asking when you book to upgrade for this extra luxury!
To enjoy a beautifully decorated lounge full of Gold Coast atmosphere head to the Chapter & Verse Lounge and Bar. It features a half indoor half outdoor/alfresco dining set up allowing guests to enjoy the surrounding tropical gardens featuring water fountains and the beautiful sea breeze. Be sure to try a dish from the hot rocks menu, no dining experience quite compares to food served on sizzling stone!
Our DQ Hot Tip is, if you don’t feel like making lunch or dinner a formal affair, simply ask the friendly staff at Chapter & Verse for a few kids’ options. They’re happy to accommodation with meals such as steak and chips, fish and chips, and nuggets and chips.
For those who love fine dining, you have your choice of the award winning Citrique and Misono. Citrique is the South East Queensland – Informal Seafood Restaurant 2014 Winner. One glance at the buffet and you will see why!
Misono, formerly Benihana, has received a certificate of excellence 2014 and is raved about throughout the Gold Coast as the best teppanyaki restaurant and Sake Bar in town. It is also known for keeping the children entertained and engaged by the charming and personable chef’s as well as mouth-watering cuisine.
While the Marriott spoils you for dining choices if you choose to venture from the resort, you will be rewarded with a plethora of cuisine options throughout Surfers Paradise.
Before venturing out, be sure to check out the Activities Desk in the lobby. They have information regarding everything from stand up paddle boarding to Kids Club timetables, to tram passes. One of the huge benefits of the Marriott is its convenient placement 200 metres from both the beach and the nearest tram station connecting guests to the wider Gold Coast.
